- Keep activity low: Most soft tissue surgeries need 10 to 14 days of strict rest, with leashed bathroom breaks only for dogs.
- Watch the incision daily: Call us if you notice spreading redness, swelling, discharge, or if your pet refuses food or water for more than 24 hours.

Will my pet be in pain?
Pain management is part of the surgical plan from the beginning. Your pet receives appropriate pain control during the procedure and goes home with prescribed medication and clear instructions. Give it exactly as directed even if your pet seems comfortable, and never give human pain relievers like Tylenol or Advil, which are toxic to pets.
How long does recovery take?
Most soft tissue surgeries need 10 to 14 days of strict rest, meaning no running, jumping, or rough play, with leashed bathroom breaks only for dogs. Should I cover the incision?
Follow your discharge instructions, they're specific to your pet's procedure. In general, surgical incisions heal best when kept clean and dry, and the E-collar, not a bandage, is usually what protects them. If your pet's incision does need a bandage or covering, we'll show you how to manage it before you head home.
When do biopsy results come back?
